Are You NEW to Sound on the Web?
1. The first time is the slowest. Take heart - the second time is easier!
2. You need an "audio plug-in" to play sound files. WE USE "AU" AUDIO FILES, so make sure your audio plug-in plays this common sound file.
3. No plug-in? You can download free plug-ins from the web - select a plug-in that plays "AU" files, such as
SoundMachine, which is what we often use (for macs). For Windows 95 users, you have Media Player sound application included free in Windows 95.
4. The FIRST time you ask to hear sound, your browser will search for your audio plug-in, so remember WHERE on your computer you've stored your plug-ins.
5. The SECOND time you ask to hear sound, your browser will automatically launch the sound. You'll feel very cool the second time.
Your Choices for Hearing Sound
1. SAVE FOR LATER: You can save the sound file on your desktop (i.e., File: Save) and listen to it later. (You'll just launch your audio plug-in and then open the audio file).
OR
2. LISTEN NOW: Your browser will ask you to select your audio application for our "AU" audio files (i.e., Netscape 4.0 asks "Pick App"). Again, you'll need to know which folder you stored your audio plug-in on your hard drive. Carefully read ALL computer screens when seeking advice online.
Good luck! You CAN do it!
